A Guide to Facebook Registration
After reviewing the current registration process for the website, I believe it would be worthwhile noting how it all works. I understand, after much deliberating, that the current process is not as clear as it could be. This will hopefully be sorted once I’m home from holiday!
Once you click the Register button in the top right corner of your page (if you’re logged in you won’t find it. If you tried, quite frankly, you’re a bit silly), you will find a typical registration form. Here is the first problem, which I profoundly apologise for. What is best at this moment in time, if you do wish to connect your Facebook account to your Daily Dischord account, is scroll down to the bottom of the form and click the Facebook button. Please note, that this button is created with Flash, and you need to have Flash installed in your browser to view this.
Once this is clicked, if you are not logged in to Facebook you will be required to do so. Once registered you will see a Facebook window asking you to allow the Daily Dischord Connect application to grab information from your profile. This information will only be used to take your profile image, name and email address for registration. Once you click allow, the window should vanish and you will see that your full name and email address occupy the “username” and “email” fields. If you wish to change your username you can do so. Either way, if you keep the email address, your Facebook account will now be connected!
This is not very user friendly. Once I return from the place we often call Spain, I plan to make this registration process much easier and much more friendly. The idea is to have the Facebook button at the top of the page so it is the first thing a user will see. I then intent to allow users to edit their profiles, so if you forget to connect at registration, you will manage to do this afterwards in the edit profile section.
Some people have reported the bug that after registration, they see the register page again. Please ignore this! If no error message appears, you HAVE been registered. I will fix this as soon as possible.
Thanks for your patience and for reading. Adios!
