It’s always great to witness the ascent of a British band who have come from the very bottom, showing promise of reaching the summit of their respective genre. EofE are showing all the early hallmarks of being one of them bands. With main stage genre leaders Mallory Knox once gracing the same stage as the pop rock quartet, it would be foolish not to treat their appearance as a huge opportunity. Not phased by this notion, we spoke to the band about this years Download Festival!
DD: Hello there! First of all, thanks for talking to us. Who have we got here, what do you do in EofE, and what are you up to right now?
Hey, thanks for interviewing us. You have us all, We are Tom Harris on vocals, Dan Bremner lead guitar, Reece Luke on rhythm guitar, Luke Bradley on bass and Nicky Waters on drums. We are currently in to our fourth week recording our debut album at Red City Studios in Manchester with David Radahd-Jones.
DD: This is the first time you have ever played Download Festival! How excited are you to finally make your first appearance? Have any of you ever attended the festival as punters before now?
We are all super excited to play Download and still a bit shocked that it’s happening. It’s one of the biggest festivals in the world with some of the biggest bands going so we all feel very privileged to play it. Dan and Tom have been before, so for the rest of us it’ll be the first time for us, and we’ll be playing it. Haha.
DD: Are you planning on soaking up the full weekend experience? What bands are you looking forward to seeing most, and what bands are you looking forward to hanging out with?
Yeah we’ll be there all weekend. We’re all looking forward to seeing all the bands and taking in as much as we can but we all have individual excitements for different bands. Dan is all Slipknot and Slash, Luke is all about Motley Crue, Nicky is Muse and Beartooth, Reece is Mallory Knox and Tom is Mallory Knox and Motley Crue. But we want to watch all the bands. We’d be excited to hang out with anyone. Anyone who’d have us. Haha.
DD: You’ve been extremely busy this past year, recently wrapping up a tour with the party animals in Glamour Of The Kill? How did that tour go? What was the highlight of that run for you?
The Glamour guys are awesome and yes, their party reputation certainly lives up to expectations! Haha! The tour was great fun and the gigs were quality. Ashes and The Hype Theory were supporting also and they are both great bands and people. The highlight I think we all agree was playing Underworld in Camden, it was packed and probably the best London show we’ve played.
DD: You’re also playing the Camden Rocks festival, which adds to an already busy festival season. How does Download Festival compare to the rest of the events you are lined up to play?
Download is unique as it is a massive festival. But Camden Rocks is great as it’s over multiple venues and there is a good choice of who you can listen to. Every festival we’re doing has it’s unique elements which is why they draw such big crowds and we’re all excited to be part of these big events and share our music.
DD: Do you guys prepare for festival shows any differently than you would for a regular club show?
No, not really. The same ritual; get together and warm up, vocals warm ups and stick and guitar practice. Then we have a huddle and and a shot of Dutch courage, then hit the stage!
DD: You just released your awesome new track ‘Wake Up’, which is purpose built for stages like Download in my humble opinion! How has the reaction to the single been so far?
Thank you very much. We are very pleased with how it’s been received. We wanted to write a relentless song which didn’t let up. It’s been getting a lot of radio play which is a really great feeling to get that level of support. We’re hoping the new songs get received the same.
DD: Is there any talk of an album being released in 2015 or are you going to keep drip feeding us with these songs?!
We are in the studio as I write this. Haha. The album will be released in August time. We’re making sure it’s the best it can be. Being our debut album we want to make sure it’s ready to make an impact.
DD: There’s going to be a whole load of kids making their first trip to Download this year. If you could give three pieces of advice to the festival virgins, what would it be?
Bring wet wipes, don’t eat anything which will makes you need the toilet, take plastic bags for the inside of your shoes and just have a jolly old time and get stuck in.
DD: OK, a light one to wrap things up. Imagine you are camping at Download this year. You can only choose ONE of the following luxuries. A) a tent, B) a sleeping bag, C) a stack of beer. What one do you choose, and why?
Depends how much beer is in a stack. If there’s enough for us all to get nicely merry then probably the booze. If not, a tent. We’d rather sleep in a tent than all of us have two beers and be freezing. That is the diplomatic answer. Haha.
DD: That’s about it from us. Thanks so much for taking the time to answer some questions. Any last words to our awesome readers?
Thanks for taking the time to talk to us and hopefully we’ll see any of the readers throughout the year at any of the festivals or gigs and we’re all massively looking forward to you all hearing the album in August. Stay tuned through our social media sites under eofeofficial or check out eofe.com
