Justice League in 2013?

the Justice League

It has been a comic book fan’s fantasy since the year dot. It has been an on, off, on and then off again project. It once was close to being made but the writer’s strike of 2008 haltered progress. Yet after all this time it would seem that the Justice League (DC’s premier team) will finally make their film debut in 2013 according to Hero Complex

It is something that has been buzzing around the rumour mill since the announcement that Marvel were bringing their premier team, The Avengers to film in 2012. From the sound of it, Warner (who own DC comics), will apply a similar template to Marvel’s. With a release date of 2013, it is thought that DC will simply do the reverse of Marvel: release the team film first, followed by The Flash and Wonder Woman. Although it might not make sense to do it this way because people will not know who these characters are, it also makes perfect sense. Release Justice League that has Batman and Superman as well as Green Lantern. Assuming the Emerald Warrior is a hit, that is three big name characters that the main stream will pay to see. This could lead to bigger revenues for any spin off film.

Speaking of Batman, Jeff Robino (president of Warner Brothers) is quickly looking at a way to reboot The Dark Knight after Christopher Nolan has finished his trilogy. In my opinion, rebooting Batman is a terrible idea. After the amazing work that Nolan has done I would rather see Christian Bale fronting the JLA instead of yet another interpretation. Although the is still hope. Nolan will be overseeing the new Batman. Warner seem to have made Nolan the big daddy when it comes to bringing DC characters to the big screen. With his work on Batman, past, present and future as well as his work on Superman, it is probably safe to say that Bats is in good hands. Also with Nolan taking such an active role on so many characters, could he be the man to spearhead the Justice League film?
