Maybeshewill – Critical Distance

I’ve been a big fan of Maybeshewill for a good few years now. I vividly remember the first time I listened to Not For The Want Of Trying and just thinking to myself how beautiful a record that was. Sing The Word Hope In Four Part Harmony then followed and the band just didn’t let their fans down with that either.

“Critical Distance” is Maybeshewill’s return to the frontline and what a beautiful return it is. The track, lifted from the bands upcoming new album is a typical, uplifting plethora of noise, orchestrated in such beautiful textures and the results are even more mesmerising than any fan of the band could have honestly expected. It’s not often that a band repeatedly outdoes itself but then again, from a group of friends that have based their existence on DIY ethics, the togetherness such commitment needs clearly shines through in everything they do. This is just brilliant, and if the song itself isn’t enough, you have a simply flawless acoustic version of “I’m In Awe” too. Faultless. I simply cannot think of enough superlatives to describe this single.
