Nostalgia 77 – Simmerdown
As the four-year gulf between their third and fourth studio albums draws to a close, Nostalgia 77 miss the mark in dramatic fashion with new single ‘Simmerdown’, a unilaterally awful swipe at lounge-tempo ambience. Enlisting the services of German vocalist Josa Peit, this is a track content to amble on unspectacularly for the duration, sadly lacking in the kind of memorable melody that such unapologetically plain instrumentation calls for. This is uniformly unworthy of your time: a stiflingly dull and maddeningly repetitive dirge that you’re well on the way to forgetting before it’s even over.
