Rebecca Black – Friday

Not very often in modern pop culture do I find myself thinking myself “wow”. Then Rebecca Black enters the fray and turns pop music on its head with her amazing debut single ‘Friday’.

The track is a ballsy middle finger to a mundane music modern music charts, laced with excellent backing vocals which create a perfect back drop to Rebecca’s naturally beautiful voice. The lyrics she belts out almost effortlessly are ridden with so much emotion it could bring a tear to the eye. You genuinely feel that the young girl is really looking forward to Friday, and how the 13 year old addresses such youth issues like the dilemma of what seat to sit in, and what day comes next in the week, it really is an anthem for kids today. A middle rapping section is something the pop scene has never seen before and it’s another example of how this song is just brimming with great ideas, executed flawlessly.

Rebecca Black is the next big thing. With such an amazing talent, the world is at this young girls feet. Justin Bieber, move over.

Hahaha. It’s not often I’m in love with one of my own reviews but this is an exception.
